HOSIOS LOUKAS
Hosios Loukas monastery is considered among the most important monuments of Middle Byzantine architecture and art, and it has been listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites. Hosios Loukas is the largest of three monasteries surviving from the Middle Byzantine period in Greece and it is the only church known with certainty to have been built in the tenth century in its site in mainland GreeceThere is evidence that the monastery was reputed all over Byzantium for its lavish decoration, liberally applied to all surfaces. Apart from revetment, carving, gold and silver plate, murals, and mosaics (especially imposing on curving surfaces), the interior featured a choice assortment of icons, chandeliers, silk curtains, and altar cloths.

DELPHI
Delphi was the place of the famous Oracle of the ancient Greek world. This place is well-known as the navel of the Earth and it is considered as one of the most significant archaeological sites of all antiquity. According to Greek mythology People consulted the Delphic Oracle on everything from important matters of public policy to personal affairs. The Oracle exerted considerable influence throughout the Greek world and consulted before all major events. The ancient Stadium held the Python Games, which were one of the four Pan-Hellenic Games held every four years.

Immerse yourself in the history of this unique place and travel back in time; Cool off at the Kastalia spring and follow the Holy Route to the Temple of Apollo to consult the oracle of Pytheia. Then, head north to visit the ancient theatre. Imagine music from the ancient concerts here, climb to the highest spot in the ancient Stadium and think of the athletic contests that took place back then.

Delphi Full Day Tour

Full day Delphi tour starts with a 140 kilometers drive along the National highway northwest of Athens. Driving through Levadia, we will arrive at the Monastery of Hosios Loukas, one of the finest Byzantine monuments in Greece, built in the 10th century. The marvelous mosaics and the architecture make the Monastery one of the most important monuments in Greece.

Departing from the Monastery, we arrive at Delphi via Arachova, a picturesque town situated on the south slopes of Mount Parnassus. At Delphi, we visit Castalia spring, the ancient Sanctuary of Apollo, the Treasury of the Athenians, the ancient Stadium, the ancient Theatre, the unique bronze Charioteer, and the Museum.

We conclude our visit to Delphi by having lunch at a local restaurant enjoying the view of the Itea Gulf followed by a visit to the Temple of Athena Pronea and the Gymnasium.

Finally, we drive back to Athens by the same route.
